多様な社会というのは、何だろう？そもそも、多様性というのはどういうものだろう？様々な文脈における多様性を認める必要はあるのか？異なる文化的・社会的な背景を持っている人たちは、どのような問題に対面しているのか？社会学部の初GLPワークショップで、以上の問いを含め、様々な視点から「多様性・Diversity」を考察し、話し合う。

Miki Dezaki is a graduate student in the Graduate Program in Global Studies
at Sophia University. He worked as a teacher for the Japan Exchange
Teaching Program for five years in Yamanashi and Okinawa. He is known as
"Medamasensei" on Youtube, where he has made comedy videos and videos on
social issues in Japan. In 2013, his video on "Racism in Japan" was met
with a huge backlash by the netto-uyoku, Japanese internet
neo-nationalists, in an attempt to censor the video. He is currently
working on documentary film on the comfort women issue.

Baye McNeil is an author, columnist, lecturer and activist, born and raised
in Brooklyn, NY. He is the author of two critically-acclaimed books on life
in Japan, and his column, “Black Eye”— featured in The Japan Times— focuses
on the image of “blackness” in Japan and the lives of people of color from
the African continent and the diaspora living in Japan. He currently
resides in Yokohama.

Ryuko Kubota is a Professor in the Department of Language and Literacy
Education in the Faculty of Education at University of British Columbia,
Canada, where she teaches courses on applied linguistics and teacher
education in English as an additional language and modern languages.
Previously, she has taught at secondary schools in Japan and in higher
education in the United States. Her research draws on critical approaches
to applied linguistics and second language education, focusing on race,
culture, and language ideology. She has many publications, including two
volumes of Japanese translation of her work, which are published by
Kuroshio Shuppan.

Alexandra Hambleton received a Ph.D. in Information Studies from the
University of Tokyo, and is currently an assistant professor at the Faculty
of Foreign Studies, Bunkyo Gakuin University. She is the author of Women
and Sexual Desire in the Japanese Popular Media (2012) and When Women
Watch: The Subversive Potential of Female Friendly Pornography (2016).
