【授業科目の目的と概要】

*英語で行う授業です。詳細は英語版を参照してください。

This course explores the relations between development and anthropology (anthropologists) though different perspectives. By reading an introductory book together, students will learn the positions of “development anthropology” (trying to make use of anthropological knowledge in the field of development) and “the anthropology of development” (investigating “development” as an anthropological subject). Moreover, through the lens of development, we will think about the ethics and politics embedded in the project of anthropology itself.

Students will:
- Understand key debates on anthropology and development.
- Think about and imagine “development” differently through anthropological theories and descriptions.
- Gain their own perspectives on different ways of intervening in the world.
